FABLE takes the lead in evaluating climate pathways and their impacts on biodiversity, health, and SDGs within CHOICE

The new Horizon Europe project, CHOICE, unites sixteen partners from five European countries, Colombia, and South Africa, towards one goal: Pave the way to 2050 Zero Emission by driving efficient demand-side climate mitigation in the Food, Agriculture, and Land Use sectors.

The CHOICE initiative aims to mainstream Integrated Assessment Models (IAMs) across the Food, Agriculture, and Land Use sectors, incorporating behavior change and diverse actor perspectives through a hybrid methodology. This approach is geared towards accelerating climate action by revealing the nuanced contributions of smaller-scale interventions to overarching climate policy targets, thereby fostering innovation and effectiveness.

With its proven expertise in designing FABLE pathways aligned with the SDGs and Paris Agreement objectives, the FABLE Consortium assumes the helm in analyzing the trade-offs associated with CHOICE's proposed actions across biodiversity, health, and food security domains.

FABLE remains committed to capacity building and disseminating the project outcomes for broader applicability. Project expansion will be facilitated through ongoing collaboration with the FABLE Consortium — a network comprising approximately 80 scientists spanning over 20 countries.

In a significant step forward, the CHOICE consortium met in person during the project’s physical Kickoff meeting in Athens, Greece, on January 29 and 30, 2024. This pivotal gathering, successfully organized by the project coordinator, the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS), brought together approximately 40 partner representatives from five European Countries, Colombia and South Africa.
